Both manual and automatic transmission are discussed here, including the clutch!

Loosened auto-transmission lever

Post by Sergio480GT » Sun Dec 25, 2005 9:58 am

Hi,

for a few weeks now my '95 2.0 auto gear lever seems to be loosened. When I shift into "D", the lever stops only between "D" and "3" (although the box itself seems to work in "D"-mode). Even more annoying: When shifting into "N" (e.g. while waiting at the lights), the box sometimes shifts into "R" - although the indicator still shows "N"...

Has someone experienced the same problem?? I really hope it is just a loosened screw, bar or something outside the box. Please don't tell me it's the box itself...!!

Sergio

I shouldn't be box itself. It's a common problem in Volvo 7xx and 9xx series.
Can be soldering somewhere in gear selector.
Some with expirience with a/boxes must answer. I know problem only from stories from Volvo Club.
