Post by eMmet » Fri May 21, 2004 9:07 am

I recently found out that i have an M54 - 373E gearbox on my 480 Turbo (-89). My volvo dealer never heard about M54. So i wonder if its anyone out there who knows what it could be..

My volvo dealer (in sweden) could only find M50, M51 and M55 in his book.

In the partscatalogue you can download from the main-site there is.
So i think your dealer did not look good.
And i also ordered some stuff for my box from the dealer and they did not have any problems finding it.

I've done some more research and M54 is very rare in sweden, and not listed in the swedish partscatalogue. But it seems to be common outside of sweden.. But it still wonder what the difference is between the different gearboxes.

after 1 nasty repair, and 2 swaps in short time i can say is yes,..... take the last update from the old crappy renault fuego box, they are far too weak for a turbo's torque.
luck,
