Alternator probs. .
Hi guys, been a while so thought I should raise my head. Hope you are all good and looking after your babies. . .
Right, here's the problem; altenator went, removed, couldn't source a replacement so paid to have it refurbished. I then replaced, but ever since then no charge is being sent to the battery (charge light is constantally on). Have testid terminals with volt-meter and if you attach meter from negative terminal on battery to big terminal on altenator, appears to be chucking out in the region of 15v, so is working, but must be a prob inbetween altenator and battery as charge never reaches it. . .
Do any of you have any suggestions/have experienced similar probs??
Cheers.

there are some old rusty connectors under a black plastic. check if they are OK. (check the complete wiring to the battery)
btw. 15 volts is kind of much.... is the regulator working (at the rear end of the alt, with the blue? and yellow wire)... Is everything connected well ?
Luck

Cheers guys. . .
Have temporailary fixed prob by adding a temporary cable straight from big terminal on altenator directly to positve terminal on battery, so must be a prob in wiring between terminal on altenator and battery!! Guess i will have to trave the wire from altenator to battery to locate fault. . .
Do any of you have any idea as to the route this wiring takes? Or what could be causing the fault . . First thing i will check is connectors dr fox mentioned (cheers mate!!), haven't had time yet ..
(Have checked fan blet tension and battery warning light connections and these are all fine)

Is all fixed now, through cutting a few cable ties and tracing the wiring, found an inline 80A 'MEGA FUSE' not far after the altenator it was for some reson blown. Stole a replacement form the scrsapyard.
These fuses were apparently fited by Volvo as a recall after a number of altenator faults caused a number of 400 series to set fire!!
Anyway, sorted!!

Then you have fixed the problem, not the cause. You should find out what caused the fuse to blow in the first place. Or you could face a hot 480!
This happened to a Peugeot 205 up the road from me, the guy kept having a blown fuse, so he hard wired the fuse with a peice of wire. It worked for a few months, and then............ FLAMES!!!!
