Hi kirsti,

Mine always hisses when you take the petrol cap off. I don't reckon it's a problem as it's always happened on my other cars...

Cant help with the speedo though...

Does the infocentre work? The 480's speedo is electronic, rather than mechanical, so if it doesn't, then it sounds like it could be sensor on the driveshaft, or a connection between it and the speedo.

Oh, and mine does the hiss thing too!

are tehy changing the whole speedo housing, inc the rev counter etc, or just the speedo itself?
It is nearly aleays dry solder joints, there is a high chance that second hand ones will be just as bad, as my mums car had a new one fitted before she got it, and I just had to resolder it 30,000 miles later. so 480 speedos could have been failing when the cars were just 3 years old!!!

were youre from ? maybae a fellow clubmember can help. I can too.

Mostly you have to open the clockhouse and take out the biggest print, to reweld the 18 pinns connector pins welds.

Other wise the wire between speedo and sensor (the wrapped one) is very brittle .. there are people who have made a new wire.

And there is always green, gray or black oxidation in the plugs, clean it out with contactspray and a toothpick.

As the other guys say.....you could do with resoldering all the pin attachment points on the rear of the unit...both sides.

My rev counter works on/off and I have been advised to check the connections on the CEM......inside the passenger footwell on a UK car.

Ive done both (on my previous 480) so if you want any info. just ask.

John.....trying to find time just to do these sorts of jobs!!
