Rear demist stopped working

Rear window demist was working fine. Now I get no light on dash/no demist. When I click the button I hear the ECU relay click and the fuse is fine. Is there a relay for it in the relay box? If so, know which one?

Cheers

Check the wires which attach to the rear bootlid (found in a rubber casing at the top of boot), I had this problem, and had to solder all the wires back together.

I also remember there could be a bad connection with one of the wires the exits the CEM, don't know the details on this.

I had the problem coyote mentions. Two wires to the CEM had burned out, they get dirty and therefore their resistance increases.

High current + high resistance = heat

I think I've some photos on an old PC of how I repaired mine, if you're interested I'll dig them out and email them to you.

If your lost and wondering you take a roadmap.
If you have an electrical schedule you can download here, and follow the wires from switch to light.

This mentiones also the gates it gets in to the CEM (thats where the relay is)

I would start to open the lamps itselves

probably a dirty contact at the CEM

Hi John,

I would go for the simplest thing first ie the wires going to the boot/glass. I have a problem with my latest 95' car and the 90' one has bare wires showing. I believe this is a common fault.

When you open the hatch look at the wires which are in a rubber boot at the top.
