Info Centre Preference
Most of the time my info centre is in the "Oil" position, the other info is hardly needed. Or I must be running out of petrol (range) or driving on a wet road during a cold day (ext)... What is your info centre preference?

I have it on oil temperature, as the oil temperature is the best indication of how warm the engine is.
E.g. the water can be nearly up to operating temperature, but the oil will still show COLD.
An engine can be considered to be warm once it is above 70deg C oil temp

Most of the time mine is on 'fuel inst', but inbetween often toggle between 'oil' and 'engine' just checkin'
After cold start it's always on 'oil' at first, like chris1roll says, it's the best indication whether the engine reaches working temp.
N.B. I often notice that when slowing down and taking foot off the throttle, 'fuel inst' goes to zero and while standing still it slowly counts up again, sometimes up to 4.0 l/100km
Is this normal correct operation?
Could remember with former 480ies that it stays on zero until taking up, then it goes up to 25.5 l/100km max.

Wel......
I keep the Groom-mobile on Average MPG and got 48.9mpg today at 50mph!
I had just wound IN (richened) the mixture on the MAF 2 turns befor the journey too!
Went miles better,as it would!
Still wish it was manual like my last one!

I have mine on oil - fuel inst/average don't report correctly on mine anymore, which is what I used to have it on.
When it's real cold in winter, I have it on ext temp just out of curiosity

They all have their uses at different times. A simple, elegant and functional instrument.
Or perhaps that should be dysfunctional , they are a bugger when they go wonky....
Fuel inst is a good laugh when you accelerate hard and watch those values fall!

Here too! Oil-position for me. Gives me a good indication of when the engine is warm enough to floor the pedal to the metal!
But once the engine is warm I somethimes play a little... Bit of current fuel consumption, seeing how much difference it makes at different speeds with the popups up or down, what outside temperature it is (and if the temperature sign on the edge of that building is giving a false reading ). That sort of stuff
