I hear a low click around glove comp. Also alternator light doesnt light. ive checked the wiring cleaned the earths and connections there is current to the main wire to the starter but none to the thin wire. otherwise runs fine. 92 2.0i. can anyone help please?

Check all the fuses, mine did this once and one of the fuses had blown, cant remember which one it was now, but changed it and away she went.

Also check all th relays, one of these might play a role.
Also without sounding obvious, make sure your battery terminals are tight and that none of the wires attached to the + next to the batter tray have pulled out (this can happen)

My problem was the earth strap to the gearbox. Checked it a couple of times but obviously didnt fix it. Rpruen recomended I used a jump lead as an extra earth and I got it turning over.... I rember that being a tough week!!

i noticed through last fortnight sometimes when i turned the key there was a slight hesitation before the starter kicked in. will check the fuses. thanks for your replies.regards joe.

thanks to all, checked all the fuses found a dud one,changed it, turned the key,n brrrrm brrrrm. back in zen 480 nirvana, thats what i call mine.
