Windscreen Washers

Post by AcidicDavey » Thu Apr 14, 2011 10:25 pm

My Celeb' has never had working washer functions front or rear. When you pull for the front then you hear no noise or spray they just wipe the wipers, the same happens when you try to get the rear spraying but at least you can hear the pumping trying to work.

The fuses look good even though their location doesn't match against the 'menu'!

What should I do? I've cleared the jets out but to no avail.

Do you mean the pumps? They appear to be really cheap anyway!

how do i test the pumps? i have tried to connect one of the directly to the battery, but nothing happens. is it dead then? or am I doing it wrong?

I have the same problem. no sound from any of my 3 pumps. (front, rear, headlamp pump)

[OT] I never heard of headlamp washers on a 480. Is it compulsory in Danmark? Where are the located?

I have them on my 480, it requires the larger type reservoir and an extra pump. Then with some sort of garden hose the water is transported to the popuplights. You can see a hole when you raise the popups in the nose: that's where the nozzles are situated. Just a gimmick, but fun nevertheless.

Yes, they are there on mine, & they work. Not much good though. You can see the jets when you raise the headlamps. They only work when the headlamps are raised & I think it's a CEM function since the spray seems to happen after you have released the wiper stalk.
@ coyote; I can't see an extra pump on mine. I think mine uses the main pump.

There are 3 washer pumps on the water tank 2 smaller pumps of identical size and one large pump that feeds the headlamp washers Have spares of these can price up including postage for Denmark. :D

The larger pump has a large diameter intake than the smaller pumps.

Zoist you have a pm :D
