Stupid infocenter or something!

From CEM to VEM, from LED to lightbulb and more. If you have an electrical problem, like a broken info-centre, search for answers in this category. This is also the place to be when you expect the problem to be of an electrical nature...

It seems like your computer doesn't get any new speed-signals from one of the sensors, and therefor is unable to update any data...

Your range is probably calculated all the time using old speed/consumption data against current tank content. So it will look quite accurate. If you drive in a town for some time you should see it dropping quite a bit, won't happen in your case I suspect.

Just don't know what sensor will be at fault.

Erratic answers from the CEM

Post by heavend » Fri Jul 20, 2007 10:21 am

If the speedo is correct, but the calculations incorrect, I'd say the sensors are OK, and the fault is in the CEM module which sits on the back of the instrument panel. A faulty connection/broken solder joint between the CEM and instrument panel would cause this symtom. Also check my previous posting about leaky electrolytic capacitors in the CEM. They cause all sorts of malfunction.
