NO!! Infocenter stopped working..
Hi,
All of a sudden the infocenter stopped working..
Where to start looking for the problem? I don´t like guessing how much fuel there is left..
I took out the radio a few days ago from the car(the car has no radio at the moment), could I have pulled of some infocenter wire? I doubt it becouse it did work after the radio was out at first.
Any appreciated

If neither of these options work, it could be that you have dislodged a cable at the back(mabe the one which goes onto the info centre controller or one at the back of the dash). Try the easy options first otherwise remove the dash and check all wires are making good contact. Also may be worth checking the brown PCB on the back of the instrument cluster for any visible soldering faults. Lots of threads on broken info centres and soldering the PCB in the elctrical forum.
Good luck mate and I hope its something simple! Rob

Thanks for all replies
I checked the fuse, and with a smile on my face I discovered it was blown...then I replaced it with a new one and started the engine..and suddenly I didn´t smile anymore.. It didn´t work
I also tried shining a torch on the infocenter, no figures..
Guess I now have check the PCB(what does it stand for?) and that all the wires are making good contact.
Regards,
Neo

That was what I was hoping for but the fuse is okey. I have also isolated the power wires from the removed radio.Maybe you've blown the fuse again? As was mentioned earlier, have you insulated the power wires from your removed stereo?
I checked it, but it looks fine.Check all the leads comming of your alternator. If one with a hoop has broken off re-attach it. Its an earth wire i think but my car ran fine without it 4 ages whilst i wondered what was wrong with my infocentre.
Thanks for the tips, guess I now need to remove the dash and check that all the wires are making good contact when I have a free day.
I´ll be back

There are 3 wires to earth, but not brown, which go to the alternator either the bracket or an extended bolt from the end of the alt, ive seen both types.
On my previous LtdEdtn they had all come adrift, joined together and earthed and all was ok.

After loosing my hope about the Info center, and already started collecting replacement parts, I´m so happy to announce that it´s working!
The car was at my local Volvo dealer, cambelt change, and when I picked it up..on my way home..I notice it was working
Must ask what they did, and I didn´t!!!
Anyway thanks for all replies

Hi Matthew!
That sounds very likely..if it would stop working I will check it, good point
I took a photo on my way back from the dealer:
Had a chance while waiting on the car to test drive a C30(2.0l, not the one in the pic), and I must say though the engine felt responsive and somehow light, my 480GT 2.0i impressed me again with the smooth ride and the powerful low rpm:s And then there is the character!
Regards,
Anton

Where exactly does the speedo sensor go and what does it look like? I would like to check mine but don't know what I'm looking for. My info centre has a mind of its own and comes on if and when it likes. All the alternator leads were redone the other day when the alternator was replaced and I have cleaned the connections on the back of the instrument panel before. I haven't cleaned the plug on the computer in the left hand door pillar yet though.Matthew Brennan wrote:Hi Anton, they probably a cable with all of the moving of engine bits, most likley the cable that runs from the speedo sensor up from under the engine to under the battery plate.
Hope it holds up!

sorted out my charging problems by changing alternator , took instrument panel out and resoldered the grey info centre leads replaced : all worked fine now the info centre stopped working definately a bad connection but when the socket was waggled the dash lights under the info centre went out and then on again.
Will try again tomorrow
