What is the procedure/method of removing a catayitic converter,
1996 Mini Classic 1275.

unbolt (2 on each end) becareful and dont drop it.
then unscrew the sensor! YAY! Your need new gaskets.

What should one do with the sensor? doesn't this adjust the mixture etc.

Yeah, you'll need to keep the sensor. If you're buying a de-cat pipe, you can get them with the thread for the sensor, or if you're breaking up the original, just put it back in when you've finished smashing!

I unplugged my lambda sensor from under the battery tray and cut any cable ties before I took the cat off. Just because it was pretty hard to remove the sensor from under the car.
