Denso W22EPR-U spark plug?

Hi all,

Ordered 4 Denso W22EPR-U spark plugs to replace my NGK ZGR5Bs that are NLA as far as I can tell. However upon inspection the Denso ones seem to be around 0.4cm shorter than the NGK ones

They both have the same thread, and absolutely everywhere online says they are compatible with all 480 engines. That being said, I don’t trust these online compatibility checkers much.

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with these or knows whether they’re correct or not? Cheers

eBay full of ZGR5B from trusted suppliers... why deviate :dunno:

Also in stock at OPIE, Euro Car parts etc.

25 years using NGK; wouldn't use anything else.

Sitrep.

So after installing them (they came gapped at 0.8mm out of the box) and a fresh set of HT leads they seem to work absolutely fine. Car pulls nicely and starts with no hesitation. Fuel economy on my little test run seemed normal too.

I would have gone with NGK had they been in stock at my local Eurocarparts. As it turned out, only Denso and Bosch were in stock, with the Bosch ones being £12 each.

The reason why I didn't buy off eBay is that I'm well aware of the number of crap knockoff car parts that flood the site and didn't want to risk it with such a crucial component and I understand that Denso are a trusted brand as well.

I probably will go with ZGR5Bs next time I come to change them (due to length issue) but so far so good.

I seem to remember Ade found some interesting stuff out about different length of plugs for the Turbo engine years ago. Along the lines of aftermarket being a little shorter in some cases but not really why.
