Volvo 480 Club Europe

The car is a '95 turbo and it is leaking from this methalic T:



It seems the connection on the T has broken slightly and I don't know how to remove it for welding.

Is it screwed into the block? or it is inserted by pressure?.

My first idea was to glue the crack with something strong enough but maybe is not the best solution on the long run.

It’s a pressed fit; I think James has replaced one and it wasn’t straight forward…

Are you sure the rubber hoses which connect to it don't just need nipping up? This just happened on mine, along with header tank connection. I put new jubilee clips on and tightened up.

If it is pressed fit I'm not going to touch it. I will try to solve it easily with cold weld like Nural 27.

I have checked the hose removing the clip. there is a hole on the T.



But it is going to be covered by the hose.

I will check it tomorrow if the glue is solid.

If the 'glue' doesn't hold then maybe just cut off the TEE (as far away from block as feasible) and add a short section of rubber hose onto the pressed in piece, then a new TEE ?

I've found that 22 & 15mm copper fittings work quite well , especially those with the 'solder ring' as it helps keep the hose in place
