help bad starting
hi has anyone had a problem with there 480 not starting, i have had a few times where it refuses to start, turns over fine but will not start, flattens battery before it starts but will easily bump start, or start with jump leads, have replaced the battery and checked alternator all seems fine. then when i do get it started it is very prone to misfiring until its fully warm, its also worse in bad weather, any ideas guyz. Help i love my 480 but if i cannot rely on it might have to think of a car change, desperate 480 turbo owner.

Humid in ignition system
Hi,

Probable cause for your trouble is humid in the sparkplug cables, "verdelerkap" etc. Had the same probelem two weeks ago, replaced all and worked fine again.

Have the same problem again since yesterday, only now I guess its the fuel pump?!

Good luck

Re: Humid in ignition system
hi i have already changed the ht leads 6 months ago, and the distributor cap.
I am going to have to look to see if there is a major power drain on the car as if u leave it with the ignition on it will flatten the battery in 30 mins so will not start

Re: Humid in ignition system
Have you checked on how much drain on the power there is when you have everything switched off?

There was a big topic about this a few months back. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek">

What about changing the Spark Plugs and ensuring you have the right Gap on the plugs.

Next time its playing up whip a plug out in turn and check to see if your getting a good spark.

I've heard the 480's especially play up if the spark plugs are old
