Is that pipes or pieces? I can't think of anything that sounds like that? Might be that its clio specific and nothing o do with the engine as we know it? The MAP sensor is within the black plastic ECU, so its not that. Not thinking of the solenoid are you?

Well it has 3 white pipes.

One goes into the black hose, just before the turbo.

Its a small black box , with the pipes coming out of it.

It must be something to do with the engine

Might pop down the garage and get a pic.

(on the plus side managed to get most of the water pipes done.

Boost solenoid, yes. The pipes are not meant to be white.
It screws to the bulkhead and plugs into the very end of the grey wiring loom.

Yep, thats your boost control solenoid. are you going to run an MBC? if you are then you can do away with the solenoid and replace it with the mbc. if you are getting an ecu mod then you'll need it fitted.

Love the volvo turbo badge, very discreet! Whats your power/weight ratio going to be like? Gotta warn the MR2 if its going to be scared, its not yet met anything to scare it.....

Well his car probably weighs about 750kgs? If the ECU is modded he is gonna be looking at about 170bhp. That makes a BHP/tonne of about 212...pretty scary!! If he get's his BHP up to about 200 he is gonna be looking at 250BHP per tonne! That is very scary!!!

Hang on just checked and a 1.8 early clio weighs about a tonne so I guess the clio with 1.7T engine will be about the same. That means it is whatever BHP you can get out of it for your BHP/tonne.

Man clios are fat! Thats about the same as a 480 turbo ( 1038kg empty)...

Hang on again...the 1.8 twincam clio engine must be stupidly heavy (1011kg) but the 1.4 clio comes in at 850kgs...Is our engine heavier or lighter than the clio 1.8 twincam? It hardly makes any sense doing the swap if it turns out to be the same weight as the 480 at the end of it...unless you dont like the volvos look (it does have a marmite love/hate thingy about it) and like surprising chavs at junctions...actually it makes perfect sense for that second reason alone!

I guess you can tell i'm incredibly bored tonight....

The 16v head is heavier than the 8v head from a turbo, but it's mainly the mad intake that makes the engine heavy. Compared to the volvo intakemanifold, it's about 3 times heavier.

MBC goes between compressor housing and actuator, to stop the actuator seeing any pressure before the preset limit on the MBC.

I sent my ecu to 'overboost' cos it was cheaper, and as you know he does Haz's work, works a treat, fucked me clutch in a matter of hours!!

And the boost soliniod thingy plugs in somewhare near the coil plug on the volvo loom, i dont use it tho.
