Re: Getting more out of my 480!

Yeah, we put a Robou in one of our turbos and its name changed from Eva to Evil. Tried lowering the front of the GT, looked great and cornered on rails, but sadly found speed bumps had to be tackled diagonally. Back on ordinary springs now - perhaps we should have just taken the lower lip off the fr...

Re: 2017 meet ups?

Another thought - the French 480 club is having a meet in Belgium 8th - 10th September. I can pass on details as I get them if anyone else in is interested in going.
Hope to meet up with some of you before then here in the UK.

Seat heaters

:( Has anyone tried changing seat heaters ? We recently put a half leather interior in one of our 480's, looks great but the passenger seat heater doesn't work. The old cloth seats both had working heaters, but it looks quite a challenge to swap them over. Before we try, I wondered if it might be a ...

Re: broken windscreen - available??

Don't worry about sourcing replacement windscreens - Pilkington have a template for every windscreen for every make & model of car since the early 1900's. Screen replacement is quite tricky - they buzz if not located correctly (we've had several over the years that had to be re-seated). The sealant ...

Re: Sunroof parts needed.

I don't like slagging anybody off, but beware of Wilderness Autos. We arranged to buy a half leather interior from them, and travelled down from Norfolk to Kent to collect it ( 3hours each way). Arrived at exactly the time we said, and took nearly half an hour to find anyone. When we did, he showed ...

Re: Sunroof parts needed.

If you have any problems with parts in the future, we could probably help out. We are based in the UK and spent a month in Spain every winter - we travel down to the Costa del Sol in our trusty 940 estate so it would be easy for us to bring big stuff for you.

Re: 2017 meet ups?

Al and I would love to join a meet - maybe we could organise several over the summer and vary the locations a bit to give everyone a chance to attend ? The pub that likes car meets sounds a great idea, does anyone know of any others in reasonably central areas? Maybe we could do May, July and Septem...

Re: 2017 meet ups?

Thanks Rachel - finally cracked it ! These are my Paris blue ES and hubby's Metallic Green GT on display in Normandy, with John de Vries and his wife (pleased to say we have signed copies of the pic in both cars' document files) http://www.dragonflyjewel.co.uk/plants/etretat5.jpg and this was at Lim...

Re: 480 parts mini hoard sell off

Hi,
We'd be very interested in the nearside rear light cluster and n/s headlight with pop up motor. Hubby is looking through the list for anything else as we have 4 x 480's to keep on the road so the list will doubtless grow. Whereabouts are you if we need to collect ?
thanks
Sylvia

Re: 2017 meet ups?

Hi, We are in Norfolk, and very happy to travel anywhere for a meet. We are lucky enough to be retired, so free to do as we please and have recently bought our 4th 480. Last year we took our Paris Blue turbo to Germany in June for a meet oganised by a member, and as it was the 30th anniversary since...

Re: Any 480 owner passing near Glasgow ?

Hi,
We have 3 480's to keep going (ES, GT and turbo) and a son living in Glasgow, so we'd love to come and rummage (assuming there's anything left) on our next visit weekend of 19th 20th Nov if you're about ?
cheers

Re: Gold at Longwater Norwich

Definitely not alone - my son lives just down the road from Longwater and I live near Loddon, so you might see one of our 3 480's sometime. We have an ES and a turbo in Paris Blue, plus a dark green GT.

Re: Fading rear clusters... Prevention

When they look faded the reason is that you get a maze of tiny splits in the surface of the plastic. The way to get rid of the splits is to polish them out - I did mine with a buffing wheel on an electric drill, held in a bench clamp. I used jeweller's crocus buffing wax, but any buffing wax will do...

Lock barrel replacements

Does anyone know if the lock set from a J reg 1.7 (non-turbo) will fit my L reg 2.0ES ??? Volvo cannot tell me without the registration numbers and the scrapyard that has the set has had it on the shelf for several years, so they don't know any further info. If my hubby was here he could dismantle t...
