Instead of filling the gap with GRP I would rivet some wire mesh in the bonnet. Easy, quick solution. Easy and quick yes, but rigid, no. Something solid will have to fill the gap as the grp is quite elastic and doesn't like being lifted up! It should be easy to do without compromising weight too mu...

Someone sounds in love with their new car! ;)

Glad to hear everything's ok, and you didn't have to pay for some t!t's mistakes!

I'm sure you'll always be welcome on the forum be it in a Saab, or another 480 in the future! :D

New bonnet design in the works..

For those who have not been reading my diary section (and I dont blame you, it's quite dull atm!) I thought i'd let ya'll know about a lil project I've got on the go at the moment. Basically I have a spare bonnet and am trying to turn it into a lightweight track day bonnet that will hopefully copy t...

Another good day! Started proper work on lightening the spare bonnet I have. This was done by cutting out (with a diamond blade this time ;) ) all the interior structure, stregthening beams, and the catch. This was all sanded down to a fairly smooth finish, although still more to be done tomorrow! S...

Err, less of a good day today. Whilst cutting the bonnet to start lightening it, the blade of the angle grinder I was using shattered, leaving me with a rather deep, rather sore gouge in my finger. It is at least a very nice smiley face shape, so will at least be an interesting scar! I'll spar...

Weeell! Yesterday I had one of the best day's I've had in a while, and for several reasons. The first reason was this: Hi! Thanks for your comments, there very well received. :D I must admit, I did feel quite guilty when I found out parts of the charger were bound for your 480 and i'd said to Groom ...

I think there was talk of such flywheel modifications, but to be honest the NA engines don't really need it! Last track day I did I was changing up through the gears so rapidly it was almost annoying! Make it any revvier and you'd spend more time changing gear than moving forwards! Could be good for...

Likewise i've had mine up to 124mph on the clock (private road of course!) but it's the speed it takes to get to that speed that I'm wanting to improve. I don't need it to do 140 odd like some of the turbo's do, but I do need it to get there faster, and i'm just not convinced that another 1.7 would....

The reason I ask is that mine lacks the grunt down the straights, she's very revvy in the corners, and pulls amazingly, but the pull slows around 80mph where to 2.0 VTEC's I was chasing just kept going.. I don't think a B20 could keep up with a VTEC, but surely close the gap on the straights?

Watching Roo's diary posts..sorry, "the secret life of a 480 owner" posts ;) have inspired me to get to work on my own car. Just spend an hour or so removing yet more nasty bits of plastic that I really do hate. This includes the center consol, handbrake surround, and front cubbyholes. Pleased with ...

unusual conversion..

Then recent selling of Sparky, and a few other battered old GT's in my area, have given me an idea. I'm building a track car, that I want to be faster than the current 1.7, but also just as reliable. At first turbo seemed the best option, but looking at all the problems you turbo guys get, reliablil...

Aftermarket switches

After yet more removal of nasty interior plastics, namely the front center consol right up to the heated seat switches, I have come to a problem. I'm looking to create my own lightweight swtichboard with all neccessary switches (long range lights, windows, and possibly mirrors) along with some after...
