De-Airbag Shopping List

Hi People, Sorry to trouble you. Is there a conclusive shopping list somewhere to replace the Airbag Wheel with an earlier non-airbag wheel? I have heard the column needs changing but there is no clarity about anything else. I have searched numerous threads, mainly concerning the optional tri-stripe...

Re: Manual Gearbox Oil Change - Ins and Outs

Where are you at with your own rolling project? With any luck there will be enough of us around early next year to justify a spring get together somewhere civilised and accessible, perhaps in the middle of the country? Its progressing; slowly! This week I have been welding/fabricating new sections ...

Re: Manual Gearbox Oil Change - Ins and Outs

Yep they're the ones! General rule, undo the filler before the drain - because if the filler doesn't come undone you don't have a dead car with its oil drained! You'll need a square drive key. Amazon do a set for peanuts; PRIME too. Washers are compression washers so best to get a pair. Already comp...

Re: Time for my 1st 480!!

No "PMSL" here. A fine example is remembered long after the purchase price is forgotten. What I have just paid for new old stock rear lights, new old stock front lights/indicators plus alloy wheel refurbishment is one/third of three grand anyway. Chuck in another £750 for rusty rear arches repaired ...

480 Donington Launch Video VHS (1986?)

So come on then, who was it?!? Only a true geek, sorry, enthusiast could warrant £18 on an old VHS cassette  :D I bidded up to £12 on something that may or may not play... http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk301/914-6/D81AF75A-3402-42D0-8E24-4ED7CF36C138.png Really jealous, whoever yo...

Re: 16" Rims for Volvo 480

Just google "Wheel Fitment Guide" - there are many websites with cross-platform information; 'wheelfitment.eu' is one. Some of the websites are really slick and let you search on PCD (4x100 as stated). PCD is the most critical, bore and offset depends how much you want to deviate / physically possib...

Hey zapcity, good luck with the search. Took me a few years but I did myself no favours wanting a specific colour / trim. Its interesting what you say about the friendliness. I think being a forum which is model exclusive helps, everyone is working towards a common passion. Everyone on here understa...

Re: Its a sibling celebration in Suffolk.

What a fantastic photograph! Getting rare now to actually achieve that. Celebrations taxed are 68 manuals, 15 autos...... I wonder why his plaque was gone? Could you spec those wheels and colour on a normal model? I remember Monks Eleigh as a kid. Used to be a YUGO/FSO dealer on the high street. Tha...

Re: 1994 Volvo 480 Turbo Diary

Hi Folks, Just a little update. Work started mid-2016 and the wheels went to the refurbishers. http://www.jaykayem.co.uk/photos/480/update1/update1-1.jpg First of all I obtained two new Fulda EcoControl HP tyres so the vehicle was on a matching set of four. Needless to say it wasn’t already and had ...

Re: Wanted: 4x Taurus Alloys

Hi Roo,

It doesn't quite match your criteria, but thought i'd mention it.... I have 2x Turbo Taurus wheels, minus centre caps and tyres.

One of those is currently for sale on eBay.

No reply required, I appreciate you need a set. They are my favourite 480 wheel and must be getting quite rare now...

Re: Blanking EGR Valve?

I'm confused! The title says EGR valve, but the picture is that of the fuel rail pressure regulator? The EGR valve reintroduces exhaust gasses into the inlet manifold to reduce Nox. The fuel pressure regulator (pictured) adjusts rail pressure dependent on inlet manifold vacuum (where vacuum ...

Re: Broken suspension spring. Can't find replacememt

Ebay (UK anyway) is awash with standard springs, front & rear - from KILEN and KYB. Lesjofors have an Online catalogue. Go to lesjofors-automotive.com and you will find the Online Catalogue link. Both 'standard' and 'lowered' springs are available and showing 'in-stock' from Lesjofors. You just need...

1994 Volvo 480 Turbo Diary - Update May 2024

A long-time lurker here, so it’s about time I write a piece… what with being a 480 owner now! It’s amazing how many of these threads start the same… I came from a Volvo family. My grandad had multiple 340 models, my dad had a 240. Our closest family friends had a mk1 760GLE – the early model with th...
