Yep mate. Tipical results for an aoverheated engine. Same happened to me, but still no sign of head gasket damage. Seems like it can get a lot of heat and pressure before giving up. In my case the only problem is that the thermostat is working bad because of the 110ºC it took. It isn't completely b...

stuttering engine at full throttle
Hey Guys, Strange thing suddenly occured. When I'm at full throttle the engine starts to stutter. When I drive it calm, no problem. Disconnected the knock sensor for a short test drive, but things only became worse. After refitting the plug the engine keeps on stuttering the same way as without the ...

Hey Guys, Sorry for the big delay, but I have veen busy graduating. But, good news is on the way. All the moulds are ready, all I have to do now is fixing a vacuummachine to get all the air out of the plastic before pouring it. As soon as I have a good set of all the units, the pics will be placed h...

Thanks for the reply. It is indeed the first type of ABS system. When I have been driving for quite a while and shortly after that start the car, the light goes out much quicker too. I was kinda hoping it was allright, but now I can say that to my girlfriend without doubt  She once asked me ab...

ABS light on for 30 seconds
Guys, After starting the car the ABS light and the brake warning light stay on for about a minute before going out. Can it have anything to do with the sensors being dirty, or does the system have a problem with its brake pressure? I also have the idea that some of the ABS relais is missing. Now the...

Your probs seems similar to mine a vew months ago. It would start whenever it wanted too. Untill suddenly I heard a weird sound during starting. The next time I was in the car with a friend of mine I said to him "listen to the sound of the starter engine, it doens't sound good". Then, nothing happen...

Funny, Changed my own rear damper for a double exit one. a vew days ago I have also been driving it without any damping, just the downpipe and the cat. My neigbour once had a chevy corvette and he walked up te me and asked me how I got the corvette sound in my volvo. It sounded great, but now I have...

Today I will order the right plastics and will try again with that one. This plastic has a much lower viscosity than the one I tested with, so the ammount of air inside will be much smaller, and it will fill the mould more properly. If that doesn't work, I will try the vacuümmachine. Thanks for the...

Down kitty, down  Done the first tests with the moulds. Clusters are looking pretty good alltough I'm still encountering problems with some air that can't get out of the mould. Today I did the second test and tomorow morning I will see the result of that. Anyway, I will continue till the resul...

I think the solutions lies in wether the sun is shining or not. It's like that with more 480 colours. My own car is 318, paris blue metallic, but I had to look under de bonnet to make sure it was indeed 318. In the sunlight it looks quite light, but in bad weather, it almost looks dark blue. ANd, to...

Hi there, I think they made two different numberplate holders for the 480. My everyday car has a typical looking one, but my spare car has normal looking one, altough it's shape matches the frontbumper. Maybe it's got something to do with the old en newer types. In that case, I may like the old one ...

Hey, Only drive it full when it's warmed up nicely. Doing so will definetly save your engine. Two weeks ago, I also drove the car to the limit, suddenly noticing that the radiator had blown and the temperature was rising rapidly. I was glad always having the temperature on the boardcomputer so I not...

Well okay, That must be the reason then. I will use my current wipers till they are worn out and then i'll try to get hold of the original volvo wipers. I can first test it with my spare car. I think this one has the original wipers installed at the factory. Car only did 7000 testmiles eding in a sc...

Indeed it is fibreglass, just as 10% of the rest of the bodyweight. Saw a 480 at the scrapyard about 2 months ago and it had a bonnet that did brake down. The point where the hinge is attached, was broken of. You could clearly see the fibre structure there. Volvo didn't mention the "plastic" bonnet ...
