Absolutely right, Van; "dry steering" will damage steering components.Van wrote: Anyway always steer with a rolling car, steering a standing car is bad for the steering system. The force applied to the wheels by the powered steering is much bigger then you'd think.

Re: eBay watch!
That's a good saving, Jim. I am familiar with split ticketing although I rarely need to use it myself. The good deal I use sometimes is a Saveaway day ticket on Merseytravel: £4.60 gets me all the trains on the system, all the buses and the Mersey Ferry, which alone costs £6 return (& that's for an ...

Re: eBay watch!
It should have a colour coded front bumper . still for £350 is well worth a punt and its only Cardiff only 2 trains away from Glasgow. Yes, Jim, change at Crewe; 5 hours 38 minutes and £141. Still, a good price. I have to say I'm not fond of the stickers and there doesn't seem to be ...

Re: Wanted sunroof pins
Good luck with your search. I had a pair until quite recently. Do Volvo no longer have them? It's usually possible to push the sunroof down by hand, then some gaffer tape would stop the noise.

Good luck on e-bay. I think you're still asking far too much, but with e-bay you may get lucky, just not with anyone on this forum who knows what it's worth.

Re: Drive belt !
Have you tried W.A. Lewis in Featherbed Lane? I've always found the service manager, Mark Nutting very helpful with my various 480's. Colin, the parts guy is good too. I'd advise renewing the cambelt at the same time. Incidentally, you were lucky; when my auxiliary belt went, it took the cambelt wit...

I'm in Shrewsbury too; problem is that, although I've owned two turbo autos in the past, I no longer have a 480. As you can see, I still visit the site regularly. If you have any problems, it may be that I've had them too and may be able to help.

Re: Wanted: Lowering Springs
LOL, I'd suggest that those who haven't noticed a difference aren't very sensitive drivers. I drove one which had been lowered and thought it had awful handling. Still, if you don't try to corner at more than 30mph I guess you'll be OK. I have to say they can look good lowered. Don't forget, if you ...

Just be VERY careful when working with the solenoid pipes; they get very fragile with age. Best not to try to pull the tubing off, rather, carefully cut with a razor blade.

Easy enough to make out of wood, I would have thought, then paint to match. I agree with Jim that these will usually go with the blind; I doubt if they were ever offered as a separate part. Why not bid on the German e-bay ones?

And as a precaution, disconnect the battery first. It's been reported that if certain contacts are made before others, some components can get fried.

Doesn't sound right. From memory it will be round and have 2 wires. Unless, of course, there's more than one type of sensor.timrosser wrote:I think I may have spotted that very lead- looks a bit like a usb one but a touch wider?
