Rear arch replacement/repair
Hi Folks I’m looking at sorting my rear arches this summer. I have read people using VW golf mk3 panels which are cheap on ebay Also, Volvo 440 which are a bit more expensive but nothing like as expensive as 480 panels from skandix. Can anyone share any experience of doing this and how close a fit t...

Re: Rescue Car: R3
I’ve only just read this today and I’m a bit upset at the way folk have jumped on Norman. I know Norman wouldn’t give up easily and without good reason. He certainly wouldn’t look at making a fast buck out of selling the parts, he has given me lots of parts completely free from his supplies. I just ...

Re: 2.0L clutch kit
The clutch is only one job happening!
The subframe is coming out and being replaced, new wishbones, new shocks and springs!

Re: 2.0L clutch kit
Thanks David. Yes, I’d seen the National ones on eBay, the mechanic I’m using isn’t too keen on that, he believes it to be reconditioned and says the amount of work involved he wants to put something decent in. Ideally LUK but nowhere has them in stock. I will still be doing track days but only occa...

Does anyone know where I can get a new (not reconditioned) clutch kit for a 2.0l?

Just to update you all
I’ve order my Bilstein b4 shocks

Rears (2) - Iqwxrem - £44.20 posted
Which I thought was good.

Re: Turbo / Non turbo springs
Thanks for the info James I have read though those posts and I’m no clearer when it comes to purchasing! They just seems to be no way of knowing what you are getting!?! It’s a nightmare. From reading the the yellow ones front p/n 34514456 350mm 20Nm and rear p/n 3418057 310mm 17.2Nm Is potentially w...

Re: Turbo / Non turbo springs
Thanks for that in sight.
One of my front spring is broken, so I’m definitely doing both front, so I think it makes sense to do all 4 corners as I’m doing all shocks too

Turbo / Non turbo springs
Sorry for all the questions lately.
Is it true that the turbo sits slightly lower?
Are their springs stiffer too?
Do they have a different part number to the 2.0l?
And does anyone have the relevant numbers to hand?
I’m assuming the turbo spring would fit on a 2.0l?

Re: Shocks and wishbones
What brand spring would people consider standard, I’ve heard the turbo sits just a little lower but I can’t find anywhere that has different springs for turbo and non turbo, they just come back with 40mm lowering springs

Re: Shocks and wishbones
I have read again 100 post about springs
And I’m starting to have second thoughts, will 30mm lower be so hash it’s unusable as a family daily, it does have kids in the back regularly!

Thanks everyone from your help.
Another question. The subframe needs new bushing.
Where do I get those from?

Re: Shocks and wishbones
Coil overs are mega money though aren’t they? I’m thinking this job with just standard is going to be expensive for me but I’ve always want to improve the ride in the corners so Bilstein and slightly lower i think is the way!?!

Re: Shocks and wishbones
I can only find balance motorsport . Com selling Bilstein B4 in this country so far that say for Volvo 480, do you know the part numbers? Or another place, they seem to be cheaper from Germany but I’m going to incur import tax and may take an age?

Shocks and wishbones
As some of you may have read my subframe failed a little while ago. I have just picked up a replacement and when repairing it all I thought I’d replace the shocks and springs and wishbones. So where are people getting them from? Are Bilstein B4 worth it? Is so, where are folk getting them from? And ...
