Re: Scandix Volvo 400 Series Catalogue, updated January 2017

Just bit the bullet and bought a pair of pop-up hydraulic struts from Scandex, equates to £50! I guess you guys will now pointy me to some cheaper alternatives...

Re: Headlight motor

Thanks guys. The hinges and linkages are fine but the plastic knob on the motor doesn't turn; it will just about with mole-grips, so I think the motor's goosed. It was getting pretty lazy when the car was in use 3 years ago. After all that time of not being used, its gone for good :) So, yes, defini...

Headlight motor

Trying to get my 2.0 ES on the road after a three years break but the passenger side headlight lift motor has seized. It was getting sticky when I took it off the road. Sure enough, it is knackered! Does anyone have an inexpensive spare? I'm in the West Midlands

Many thanks, Rob

Yes; the mileage is genuine. I am using the 480 more to keep the mileage off the 440. Oh the hardship!!

Re: I like big butts and I cannot lie...

Thanks for your kind comments. I think the 440 is a keeper though, as it was registered in April 1989 and is the earliest UK 440 that is believed to have survived. Plus, it pretty much still has full Volvo service history, serviced every 6 months of its life up until last year. I did a cambelt, tens...

Re: I like big butts and I cannot lie...

I love that 460. Early mark 1 CDs were turbo'd; later ones 2.0i. I am looking for a Mark One 460 Turbo (or CD) and was tempted by this one before the current owner got it, but I want a manual and I already have a Smoked Silver 440... few pics of it are below, along with my 480 :) I would even consid...

Re: Classic Car show at the NEC - no 480s

There was a 480 there...in the car park. it was mine.

As to the 480 not being a classic, you have obviously have missed Classics Monthly magazine, where the 480 has been featured in most issues over the past 8 months...

WANTED: 1994 B20 dash gauges

Hi guys and gals, My tachometer and speedo like to work when they want, although the info centre works perfectly. I have now come to the end of my tether taking the dash panel out, dismantling it and even resoldering dry joints on the rear circuit board, only for the dials to work temporarily, befor...

Re: No radio, clock, fag lighter or info - fuse OK - HELP!

Wonderful Glasgow, thanks ever so much; that is exactly what I needed to know. I took the 480 out for a drive earlier, with most of its fascia parts hanging down. All seems fixed, including the dodgy speedo and info centre. I now have to bolt the trim all back together. I'll then wash her and get yo...

Re: No radio, clock, fag lighter or info - fuse OK - HELP!

There's no figuring that needs to be done. All I need to know is the standard rating for fuses 21 and 22. Anybody?

Re: No radio, clock, fag lighter or info - fuse OK - HELP!

Well, I think I may have the problem licked. I pulled the fuse box down and noticed that, if I shorted out the earth between fuses 20 and 21, everything springs back into life. I have fiddled with the wires, sparayed it with contact cleaner and nothing else works, other than shorting out the two ter...

Re: No radio, clock, fag lighter or info - fuse OK - HELP!

Thanks guys. I have removed the relays, cleaned the contacts, and put them back. Sadly, the radio, fag lighter and info centre still do not work, although the SRS lamp and door open light now. Yay! But, the main fault is not cured. I have had a peek beneath the dash. I think I can see the earth, in ...

Is that behind the glovebox (on a UK car)? There are loads of plugs there; which one should I need?

No radio, clock, fag lighter or info - fuse OK - HELP!

Hi everyone, I have just bought a 1994 2.0 480 with 65,000 miles. Before I introduce it to you all, I would liken to sort out its little niggles... The main one I have is no radio power, no clock, no cigarette lighter and (above all) no info centre display (although the backlight is on). The fuse is...

WANTED: Radio Cassette and floor mats

I'm looking for either a VC608 or VC708 radio cassette, preferably with code or with the donor vehicle's registration number, plus a set of black plastic Volvo floor trays. As cheap as possible please :) If anyone has these parts for same, new or used, drop me a PM. It is for the car below... but pl...

480ES - J reg, 80k

There is a Volvo 480ES with 80k ish in Dave Kelly Car Dismantlers nr Wrexham. It's complete, with 80k on the clock. Body is OK bar the usual rear arches rot. Would be worth saving; the car is nothing to do with me but thought you guys would appreciate the head's up.
