Bottom radiator hose

Good news! The hose from a 2 litre 440 fits, no problem. In fact it is better than the original because it has an extra thick layer of rubber where the hose goes past the cross member. It also clears the bolt that holds some sort of bar on the engine block near the water pump better. It was this bol...

Interesting. My 1992 model in Italy definitely behaved the same as my present 1990 model (ie pump coming on when switching off without starting engine). Maybe they changed it in late model ones like yours. I would think it would require some extra computer programming for it to do that and always as...

It's not meant to run if I don't even turn the engine on . I turn my igition on and damn thing kicks into life lol. My pump doesn't turn on when I switch the ignition on without starting the engine but it goes when I switch the ignition off, regardless of whether the engine has been running or not,...

I also wired the fan on the Alfa 33 so that it is independent of the ignition switch and will do the same on the GTV. There have been studies done on the benefits of doing this.

Your water temp sensor is faulty. Which one I'm not sure but I would guess the rad sensor is faulty as mine always comes on and then sometimes the rad fan spins into life after i walk away from the car. could cause battery to die otherwise the pump is ok to lose unless you drive hard then let it id...

Bottom radiator hose

The bottom radiator hose on our turbo sprang a leak today, in the market multi story car park, requiring a tow home. My question is: is the hose on a 2 litre 440 the same? 480s were never sold in Australia but 440s were so I hope they are the same. Failing that what about Renault 19 hoses? if neithe...

Our 1992 Turbo in Italy had the 60 litre tank and we used to get about 720 km out of it on a long run. Our current 1990 Turbo has the small tank and is doing about the same MPG around town as our other one, but we haven't had it on a long run in the country yet.

Well that's a job I will definitely be leaving to my poor Volvo mechanic! Hopefully the clutch has some life left in it and lasts till we can afford the labour. As I said, it works fine with no slipping but the adjuster is done up a long way. Presumably it is the same as doing a 440 so with any luck...

Thanks for the info about the heater matrix Dan. I think I probably will tackle it myself. As I said my mechanic didn't enjoy doing the clutch cable. It took two of them to finish the job. The labour cost a fair bit but I was glad it wasn't me that did the job. The adjuster is a long way out on mine...

We had a new high flow cat fitted to ours early this year and the thing flies now. My wife thoroughly pissed off both an R32 Golf and a 5 litre V8 Holden Commodore SS at the same time recently. You know you have upset them when they scream past flat out at the next set of lights after you slow down ...

The bolt on the pedal end on mine broke about 3 months ago and we decided to put a new cable in while we were at it and it cost 37 pounds (AU$90) here in Australia, so 50 pounds is a bit steep. It was for a 440 which was exactly the same as the original and it came with all the fittings and outer ca...

Nice wheels! Who makes them? What size are they and do they have the correct centre bore for the 480?

These will break eventually, repair it or lead a new one to the tacho.
(the tacho is directly connected to the ignition unit)
What do you mean by "the ignition unit"?

Fitting after market tacho.

Has anyone fitted a non original tacho to their 480? Mine doesn't work and I don't know if the tacho itself is faulty or if it is something else. It has worked briefly 2 or 3 times only and cleaning the contacts on the back didn't help. Either way I can't get one from a wreck in Australia because mi...

vpstyle your car looks beautiful. We owned a black one when we were living in Italy and the one we have here in Australia is white like yours. It is a late 1990 model and is in excellent condition. Since owning it we think white really suits the 480. Do you have any more pics? This is ours with its ...
