F.A.Q. - Manually raising your pop-up headlights

When your pop-up lights don't pop up anymore, you can always pop them up manually. Underneath the bonnet you can find white cilinders (one near each popup light, see red arrow), which you can turn and so manually move the lights up and down. They can easily be found on the back of each motor for the lights.

But surely you want the motors to function normal again! Start by checking the fuse, if this is broken, replace it.

Is that all? NO! There might be a good reason why the fuse blew in the first place (and might blow again as soon as you replace it).
The dampers that stabilise the lights when they are up could be worn. Then the motor has to work much harder to get the lights up or down. The dampers aren't too expensive.
To all of you which are driving 480's, check these dampers and replace them if they make any noise or are 'sluggish'. The lights should come up, and go down without any 'screeching' noise and without hesitation. If you have any troubles with them, replace the dampers at once, unless you want to buy new pop-up motor units
